Google Business Profile suspensions can become complicated when multiple businesses operate from the same physical location. Even when the businesses have different names, services, and operating patterns, not having dedicated entrances, suite numbers, or clearly demarcated spaces can trigger doubts and profile suspensions.

For this client, a snow removal company in Ottawa, their Google Business Profile was suspended for deceptive content. Which means Google feels deceived and unsure what’s happening with the business.

This Google Maps listing suspension was more complicated than the typical case we handle. The Ottawa snow removal company operated from the same property as a sister towing company, with each business using a different entrance. The seasonal nature of the snow removal business also created additional confusion around the business’ active status.

With another business entity and a completely different business type operating from the same address, Google’s automated systems had reason to question whether the snow removal business was a legitimate, independently operated business eligible for its own Google Business Profile.

The Google Business Profile Suspension Audit:

When a profile is suspended for deceptive content, understanding what Google may be interpreting as misleading or inconsistent is critical.

In this case, Map Mech’s Google Business Profile Specialists conducted a detailed audit of the business structure, physical location, business operations, and supporting information available to Google.

Our investigation identified that the biggest challenge was not that the business itself was illegitimate. We found that the relationship between the businesses operating from the same property was not sufficiently clear to Google’s systems.

The seasonal operation of the snow removal company further complicated the situation, creating additional questions around its active status and eligibility.

The Problem:

The snow removal company shared a physical address with a sister towing company, but the two businesses operated independently through different entrances and had distinct business operations, down to the contact phone number.

However, the business relationship and physical separation were not sufficiently established from Google’s perspective. This unclear relationship created additional signals that caused Google’s automated moderation system to question whether the snow removal profile represented a legitimate standalone business or a misleading duplicate listing.

The Fix:

Map Mech’s Google Business Profile Specialists, after uncovering the problem, focused on establishing the complete business structure and demonstrating that both businesses were legitimate and independently operated.

We established that both businesses operated under a primary corporation with valid DBAs for each business, providing the corporate documentation necessary to explain the relationship between the entities.

We also provided evidence demonstrating that the businesses operated as standalone operations, including documentation and supporting evidence showing that the property was appropriately demarcated and that each business had its own independent access and entrance.

To further establish the legitimacy of the snow removal business, we provided evidence of:

  • Business tools and equipment
  • Permanent business signage
  • Independent access to the property
  • Physical demarcation between the businesses
  • Corporate and DBA documentation
  • Supporting business documents establishing the legitimacy of the operation

The objective was simple: remove ambiguity and give Google a clear, verifiable picture of how the businesses operated and why it deserved a place on Google Maps.

The Result:

Snow removal company Google Business Profile reinstated

The Google Business Profile was reinstated and fully verified within 3 days of the appeal.

Even better, the client’s reviews were fully reinstated along with the profile.

What initially appeared to be a deceptive-content suspension was ultimately resolved by establishing the legitimate business structure, the independent operation of the businesses, and the physical reality of the location.

Follow Up & Next Steps Post-Reinstatement:

A successful reinstatement is only the first step. When a profile has been suspended, our usual practice is to treat the freshly reinstated listing as HOT and UNSTABLE during the initial recovery period.

For this snow removal company, the priority after reinstatement was to ensure the profile remained compliant and that the business information continued to accurately reflect its seasonal operation and independent presence at the shared location.

Once the profile had stabilized, the focus shifted back to local visibility, competitive positioning, and ensuring the business was positioned to capture demand when the next snow season arrived.
